In the spiritual teachings of Dr. Bula Moyo, everyone has the "Seed of Sight." While some are born with a "Veil" (a natural psychic gift), everyone can learn to cultivate their intuition through the Hoodoo tradition. This guide will walk you through your first session using the two most accessible tools: The Bone/Curio Set or Playing Cards.

Never rush into a reading. The spirits require an invitation and a clean "road" to travel.
Cleanse Your Body: Wash your hands and face with Florida Water or a bit of salt water. This tells your brain: "The work day is over; the spiritual work has begun."
Set the Witnesses: Place a clear glass of cool water and a white candle on your table. Light the candle.
The Opening Prayer: Knock on the table three times. Say: "I call upon my ancestors of light and the masters of the roots. Open my eyes that I may see; open my ears that I may hear. Speak the truth through these tools."
If you are using a standard deck of playing cards (remove the Jokers).
Step 1: Shuffle the cards while focusing on one specific question.
Step 2: Cut the deck into three piles with your left hand (the hand of intuition), then put them back together in any order.
Step 3: Lay out four cards in a diamond shape.
Top Card: The spiritual influence (what God/Ancestors want you to know).
Left Card: The past or what is leaving your life.
Right Card: The near future or what is arriving.
Bottom Card: The final outcome or the "Root" of the matter.
If you have a small set of bones, shells, and curios.
Step 1: Hold the items in both hands. Blow your breath onto them. This "animates" the tools with your life force.
Step 2: Shake them gently while whispering your question.
Step 3: Drop them from about 6 inches high onto a circular cloth.
Step 4: Look for the Clusters.
Items in the Center are the most urgent.
Items touching each other are Linked (e.g., a coin touching a key means "Financial Opportunity").
Don't reach for a book immediately. Look at the "Landscape" of the tools.
The "Temperature" of the Reading: Does it look crowded and messy (confusion)? Or is it spread out and clear (peace)?
The First Thought: What is the very first word that pops into your head when you look at the result? That is the spirit speaking. Everything you think after that is your "ego" trying to analyze.
Once you have your answer, you must "Close the Gate" to prevent spiritual "static" in your home.
Thank the Spirits: Say: "Thank you, Ancestors, for the truth. I release you to your high and holy places."
Dispose of the Energy: Drink the glass of water or pour it outside into the earth. This "grounds" the energy.
Snuff the Candle: Never blow it out (as it "blows away" the luck). Use a snuffer or your fingers.
"I tell my students: Your first reading might feel like you're guessing, but by your 100th reading, you'll be 'Knowing.' Divination is a Muscle. You have to flex it every day. Even if you don't have a problem, ask the cards: 'What is the energy of today?' Then watch how the day unfolds. This is how you learn the language of the Unseen."
A: This often happens when you are too tired or too emotional. If the reading is "Muddied," put the tools away, take a salt bath, and try again in 24 hours. The spirits will not talk to a chaotic mind.
A: You can, but itβs better not to. Asking the same question over and over "strains" the line and shows a lack of faith. Read once, trust the answer, and then act on it.
The tools are in your hands, and the ancestors are standing behind you. Are you ready to hear the truth?
