The Physical Wash: Wash your hands and face with Florida Water or a mixture of salt and lemon. This "cuts" the mundane world away from you.
The "Cooling" of the Head: Many Rootworkers anoint their forehead and the crown of their head with Van Van Oil or Cooling Water to quiet the "ego" and open the "Sight."
The Breath: Sit in silence for three minutes. Visualize a white light coming down into your head and pushing all your daily worries out through your feet.
You don't need a fancy altar, but you need a "Sanctified Surface."
The Cloth: Use a clean, natural fabric. White is for general clarity and ancestral work; Blue is for protection and peace; Red is for high-stakes love or court cases.
The "Four Corners" Clearing: Spray the four corners of the room with a mixture of water and Peppermint oil or Florida Water. This "pushes" unwanted spirits out of the room.
