How to Calculate the Personality Number

While the Soul Urge uses vowels (the breath), the Personality Number uses consonants (the structure).

The Pythagorean Chart (Reference)

Use this list to find the value of the consonants in your full birth name:

  • 1: J, S

  • 2: B, K, T

  • 3: C, L

  • 4: D, M, V

  • 5: N, W

  • 6: F, X

  • 7: G, P, Y (if Y is used as a consonant, like in "Young")

  • 8: H, Q, Z

  • 9: R

The Calculation Method

  1. Write your full name (as it appears on your birth certificate).

  2. Cross out all vowels (A, E, I, O, U).

  3. Assign numbers to the remaining consonants using the list above.

  4. Add the numbers for each name separately.

  5. Reduce each name to a single digit (except for Master Numbers 11, 22, or 33).

  6. Add the totals together and reduce one final time.

Example: JOHN DOE

  • JOHN: Consonants are J(1), H(8), N(5). Total: 1 + 8 + 5 = 14. Reduce: 1 + 4 = 5.

  • DOE: Consonant is D(4). Total = 4.

  • Total: 5 + 4 = 9.
