Where you put your altar matters. In the African Zodiac, certain directions carry specific energies:
The East (The Rising Sun): Best for new beginnings, wealth, and clarity.
The High Place: If possible, place your altar on a shelf or table that is at least waist-high. This shows Respect.
The Quiet Corner: Avoid high-traffic areas or places near the television. You want a "Buffer Zone" of peace.
To keep the "Power Station" running, you need to represent the four basic elements of life:

In 2026, we often forget that relationships require Exchange. You do not only go to the altar to "Ask." You go to "Feed."
The Standard Offering: Fresh water (changed daily) and a white candle.
The Occasional Treat: A small portion of your favorite meal, a piece of fruit, or traditional snuff.
The Secret Ingredient: Gratitude. Simply standing at the altar and saying "Thank you for watching over me" is the most powerful "Food" you can give.
The Logic: When you provide for the spirits, they are "Weighted" (Post 32) and more capable of intervening in your physical world.
Many people in 2026 keep photos of their ancestors on their phones instead of a physical space. Dr. Bula Moyo warns: "A screen has no 'Weight.' It cannot hold the spirit."
The Rule: You can use digital photos, but print them out. Put them in a physical frame.
The Logic: Spirits interact with the Physical Vibration of the Earth. A phone can be turned off; a physical altar is a "Permanent Flame." 2026 is the year to "Make the Spiritual Tangible."
"I tell my seekers: Your altar is like a Fire. If you don't add wood, it goes out. Adding 'wood' means spending time there. Even if you only have one minute, light the candle, touch the water, and acknowledge your lineage. When you do this daily, you create a 'Spiritual Warmth' in your home. This warmth keeps the Evil Eye away and makes your house a magnet for blessings. An altar is not a chore; it is an Investment."
A: Yes, but with a condition. If you have a partner, cover the altar with a white cloth during "intimate moments" to maintain the sanctity of the space. Ideally, a separate "Prayer Room" or a quiet corner in the lounge is better.
A: Leave them for 24 hours. The spirits "eat" the Essence (the energy) of the food. Afterward, dispose of the physical remains in nature (under a tree or in a garden) or, if you live in a city, dispose of them respectfully. Do not eat the food yourself once it has been offered.
